The new state's capital will get seamless supply of electricity, thanks to a massive solar power station that is coming up in Guntur district. The state government has decided to dedicate the 1,000 mw solar power project exclusively for the capital and its surrounding areas. Sources said that the Union power ministry has come forward to fund the project estimated to cost over Rs 6,500 crore.
Apart from the solar plant at Guntur, APGenco has finalised three solar power projects at Kadapa, Kurnool, and Anantapur that will generate 100 mw solar power. The solar power station located beside Jurala Hydel station was allotted to Telangana following bifurcation.
